Planned works on ‘lower’ end of Kilburn High Road

By Ellie O'Donnell

Local boroughs are proposing changes to the ‘lower’ end of Kilburn High Road.

London Borough of Camden, London Borough of Brent and City of Westminster are calling on residents to share their opinions as part of a consultation which covers the area of Kilburn High Road between West End Lane and Greville Place.

The proposed changes include:

  • Extending bus lanes and standardising bus lane hours

  • Changing a zebra crossing to a signalised pedestrian crossing

  • Adding more trees

  • Widening the pavement

  • Providing more informal crossing points and a central island

  • Adding new cycle lanes and longer Advanced Stop Line

The proposals are part of a wider movement since the pandemic begun to improve street safety and accommodate for more walking, cycling and scooting.

London Borough of Camden say the changes are htr first phase in a larger two-year project to ‘transform’ Kilburn High Road to make it a ‘safer and more welcoming town centre’.
